Oíche Shamhna

We wrote some stories for Oíche Shamhna, then recorded them. You can hear them and follow the stories below.

Grúpa 1

Lá brea Oíche Shamhna a bhí ann. Rinne Mamaí bairín breac agus chuir sí fáinne isteach. Chuir Mamaí maisiúcháin sa teach. Ghearr Dadaí aghaidh scanrúil ar an puimcín. Chuaigh mé ó theach go teach in éineacht le mo chara. Go tobann, chas mé timpeall agus chonaic mé taibhse taobh thiar dom. Lig mé beic asam agus rith mé síos an bothar. Is beag nach bhfuair mé bás. Rith mo chara in éineacht liom. Bhí eagla an domhain orm.
Neasa: An bhfuil tú ceart go leor?
Rossa: Níl. Tá eagla an domhain orm. Chonaic mé táibhse taobh thiar dom.
Neasa: Ní maith liom Oíche Shamhna. Tá sé scanrúil!

Is brea liom Oíche Shamhna!

Grúpa 3

Oíche Shamhna a bhí ann. Chuir Mamaí maisiúcháin scanrúil timpeall an tí. Chuir Dadaí milseáin ar an bpláta. Bhí na páistí gléasta mar táibhse, cailleach, puimcín agus creatlach. Bhí tintreach agus tóirneach agus scamaill sa spéir. D'fhéach siad amach an fhuinneog agus chonaic siad crann scanrúil. Bhí eagla an domhain ar na páistí. Ansin, chuala siad screadaíl.
Siobhán: Go bhfoire Dia orm!
Daidí: Cad a tharla?
Brian: Chuala mé duine ag screadaíl!
Chas na páistí timpeall agus chonaic siad cailleach
Dónal: Go bhfoire Dia orm!
Thosaigh Mamaí ag gaire.
Siobhán: Cén fáth a bhfuil tú ag gáire?
Dadaí: Is í Aintin Orla an cailleach!
Aintín Orla: Páistí amaideach!
Thosaigh an clann ag gaire!

Grúpa 4

Oíche Shamhna a bhí ann. Bhí sé a hocht a chlog. Bhí mé gléasta mar táibhse. Rinne mo Mhamaí m'aghaidh fidil. Bhí sé scanrúil. Cnag mo chara ar an doras. "Ar aghaidh libh!" arsa mo Mhamaí. Shiúil mé agus mo chara síos an bothar. Cnag mé agus mo chara ar an doras. Chuala mé agus mo chara púca ag screadaíl. Lig mo chara beic as. D'fhéach mé ar an bhfuinneog. Chonaic mé púca! Oíche Shamhna a bhí ann. Bhí mé gléasta mar creatlach. Ghlaoigh mé ar mo chara agus chuaigh an bheirt againn go dtí an dioscó Oiche Shamhna. Go tobann léim cat ar cheann mo chara. Bhí eagla an domhain ar mo chara Colm. Rith mé ar an mbothar agus thit mé den rothar. Bhuail mo chara leis an rothar. Bhí fearg an domhain ar Cholm. Go tobann chas an chat go dtí cailleach! D'ith Colm an cailleach. Dhúisigh mé sa leaba sa seomra leaba. Brionglóid scanrúil aisteach a bhí ann. D'ith mé mo bhricfeasta agus chuir Mamaí siucra ar na callóga. Bhí áthas an domhain orthu.

Welcome to our class blog!

Welcome to our class blog. Here we will tell you a little bit about what is happening in our classroom. In the month of September, we learned about the Aztecs, Greek Mythology and the rivers, lakes, mountains etc of Ireland. The Aztecs lived in Tenochtitlan in Mexico city. It was built on lake Texcoco in 1345. 300 years later the Spanish invaded the Aztecs and the empire came to an end. King Midas was one of the greedy Greek kings who had a craving for gold. The ancient Greeks invented Gods to represent things that happened in their lives. The tallest mountain in Ireland is Carrantouhill, and it is in the McGillycuddy Reeks. The longest river is the River Shannon, Lough Allen, Lough Ree, and Lough Derg are on the River Shannon.
We did a lot of revision in maths. We learned new phrases in Irish, such as "in éineacht leis ... "  which means "with him" , and ""ar aghaidh libh", which means "go on" or " carry on".
We went to Santry and we competed in an Orienteering competition. There are some photos of the event below. We hope you like them!
We learned how to redo Vincent Van Gogh's sunflowers, We did some still life sketches. We made stick men and women out of pipe cleaners and lollipop sticks and we created cool Autumn pictures.
We learned a bit about Rugby and the Rugby World Cup. Each person was in charge of researching a country. We thought Ireland would get to the finals, but we got beaten by Wales at the weekend.
We also wrote about our heroes and we hope to put up some of these later on. Keep an eye out!

Here are our pictures from Santry:
